京房與漢元帝共論，因問帝：“幽、厲之君何以亡？所任何人？”答曰：“其任人不忠。”房曰：“知不忠而任之，何邪？”曰：“亡國之君，各賢其臣，豈知不忠而任之？”房稽首曰：“將恐今之視古，亦猶後之視今也。”
